Berlin-based, Nigerian-born artist Dmc Reigns steps into a more electronic take on West African pop with Passport, a new EP threading Afrobeats, highlife and Afropop through sleek, contemporary production. Traditional Nigerian rhythms and melodic instincts meet a more fluid electronic palette, giving the songs a distinctly modern edge without losing their roots.
The EP draws from the current Nigerian scene while pushing those influences into a sound that feels personal to Reigns. “Wahala,” one of the project’s key moments, captures that balance through its highlife foundation and restless, hypnotic pull.
