London trio IFULKI announce their debut EP Something Greater, due December 4 via Source / [PIAS], alongside new single “Eyes On Us”. Built around Queen Kaltoum’s soulful vocals and piano, Charlie Flynn and Ayman Sinada’s rhythmic interplay, the track pulls jazz improvisation into a more dancefloor-focused space shaped by ’90s house, Moroccan and West African influences.
According to the press release, IFULKI bring together electronic soul, trip-hop and jazz without treating them as fixed genres, favouring loose grooves, spacious production and the instinctive energy of a live band. The project also draws directly from Kaltoum’s Amazigh heritage and its emphasis on community, connection and collective experience. After years of performances at Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Cafe and Village Underground and collaborations with Kokoroko, Nubyan Twist and Blue Lab Beats, IFULKI now turn that open-ended approach into their first recorded statement.
