Persian-Canadian artist Asal unveils her new album Kiss the Sun, a deeply personal collection that marks a significant step forward in her artistic journey.

Written and entirely self-recorded over the course of the last year, the album explores themes of grief, longing, love and self-discovery. At its emotional core lies the experience of loss, particularly the passing of the artist’s father, an event that shaped much of the record’s introspective and reflective character. The result is a body of work that moves between melancholy and hope, embracing emotional complexity rather than clear-cut resolutions.

Musically, Kiss the Sun expands Asal’s distinctive blend of alternative pop, atmospheric production and intimate songwriting. The album also draws inspiration from pre-revolution Iranian psychedelic rock, adding new textures to a sound that balances vulnerability with cinematic scope.
