RY-GUY releases new single “Change Is Gonna Come,” lifted from his forthcoming EP like a river, due March 27. The track frames his approach to songwriting as narrative practice, drawing from soul structures and art-pop arrangements shaped in South London. Born to a Guyanese and Barbadian family, RY-GUY threads soundsystem lineage into contemporary production contexts.

On the track. RY-GUY said “A soulful thriller draped in hallucinating sounds, directed by the debate surrounding euthanasia. The song, told in the first person, examines morality and the impact that circumstances can have on viewpoints, potentially leading to disturbing outcomes. Through its lyrical voyage and nuanced experimentation, this song displays its own form of free will, paying homage to Sam Cooke’s revolutionary ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ as it unfolds.”

He added “Who controls a life? Morals. A moving target. Structural failures. Conditions and circumstances. Free will. Perspective. Pressure. Disturbing consequences. We The People.”
