Montanha, the long-running Porto collective of André Gomes, Nuno Oliveira, João Sarnadas and Tito Silva, finally crystallise their decade of restless collaboration into a first full-length statement. Alvorada, due October 20th on their Favela Discos imprint, is less a debut than a distillation of years spent testing the edges of electronic form.
The advance single “Vice City” hints at the record’s mercurial nature. Its opening riff wobbles with a woozy charm, before being tugged into a mesh of footwork pulses and trance undertow. Beneath it, a bassline stretches and bends with rubbery insistence, answering a fragile synth line that seems intent on collapsing into song. It’s music alive to contradiction—playful yet deliberate, slippery but precise.
