Kali Malone announces Burning Song, her first album since 2024’s All Life Long, marking a more intuitive and fluid turn in her approach to composition. Recorded at Leipzig’s historic Thomaskirche, the album captures Malone’s organ alongside cello by Lucy Railton and bowed guitar by Stephen O’Malley.
The trio develops slowly through sustained tones, microtonal harmonies and luminous shifts, moving beyond the cyclical structures of Malone’s earlier work. Originally commissioned for the 2023 Venice Music Biennale, the pieces were completed and recorded across two nights in August 2025.
