Stockholm experimentalist Linus Hillborg builds Remanens from the ghosts left behind by old recordings and forgotten data. According to the press release, The album began as a live score for Pierre Clémenti’s fragmented 1969 film Positano, and carries that same memory-like logic into sound. Hillborg digs through cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes and dead hard drives, sending the material back through tape at altered speeds before re-recording it through physical objects.

The result treats magnetic residue, hiss, degradation and digital leftovers not as flaws but as compositional material in their own right. The title refers to the trace a signal leaves after it has disappeared, and Remanens turns that idea into an eerie, tactile study of what sound refuses to forget. Out November 20 via B.A.A.D.M, the title-track is the first excerpt.
