Berlin trio Contagious return with Being, their first album since 2019’s self-titled debut and a new exercise in beautifully hostile improvisation. Born from the Partners in Crime series at Morphine Raum, the record brings Andrea Neumann, Sabine Ercklentz and Mieko Suzuki together with guests Valentina Magaletti, Andrea Belfi and Sofia Jernberg.

According to the press release, Drums, processed electronics and fractured vocals build a tense, physical language where brutal eruptions can suddenly give way to delicate release. The trio’s instinct for pressure and repetition keeps the music constantly on edge, with powerful grooves emerging from what initially sounds like pure sonic confrontation. Being arrives October 23 via Rabih Beaini’s Morphine Records, with its track titles continuing Contagious’ interest in species that resist binary sexual categories.
