Tokyo-born, New York-based polymath Takuya Nakamura marks nearly 35 years of musical exploration with Shape The Future, an expansive double album rooted in the collision of jazz and jungle. Chapter One brings studio collaborations with Greentea Peng, Shigeto, Tim Reaper and Currency Audio, with first single “Broken Jazz” pairing Nakamura’s vintage trumpet with Tim Reaper’s restless breakbeats.
Chapter Two captures his hybrid live set at fabric, where DJing, electronics, vocals and trumpet melt into one continuous, soundsystem-driven performance. Nakamura’s music carries the fingerprints of a life spent moving between straight-ahead jazz, salsa, Brazilian music, experimental electronics and drum’n’bass, without ever treating those worlds as separate languages. Shape The Future arrives in two chapters via fabric records, October 29 and November 12.
