Kraków composer Martyna Basta and Los Angeles sound artist claire rousay turn a 2023 Unsound residency into hotel room, an uncanny collaboration shaped by distance, displacement and the strange intimacy of life on the road. Built remotely from sketches exchanged after their time in Poland, the album moves between three expansive pieces and three brief, euphoric vignettes, allowing both artists’ distinct approaches to gradually converge.
Hypnagogic field recordings, spectral voices, electronics and warped instrumental improvisations create a sound world that feels suspended somewhere between ambient music, fragmented memory and electro-acoustic abstraction. “cool girls go to heaven” is the new excerpt.
