Fresh off his win for Tenor Saxophonist of the Year in the DownBeat Critics Poll, James Brandon Lewis recently announced his new album Calling Antonín, out October 23 via TAO Forms.
This time The subject of his third album is not an American. It is Antonín Dvořák, the revered Czech composer who drew inspiration from the folk songs of his own country, and then from the United States, where he lived and worked for three years starting in 1892.
Alongside the announcement, Lewis shared the lead preview “Dilemma of Hearts,” inspired by Dvořák’s relationship to his wife’s sister and the possibility he loved her his whole life. Listen below.
