On Dja Dja, Catalan composer Marina Herlop pushes her singular musical language to its most expansive form yet. Self-released after her acclaimed run on PAN, the album fuses fractured piano minimalism, spectral electronics, gamelan, and orchestral flourishes into a labyrinthine song cycle that feels both rigorously composed and startlingly instinctive.
Conceived as a seamless whole, Dja Dja transforms Herlop’s virtuosic voice into another instrument within its intricate architecture, balancing ecstatic beauty with restless experimentation. It is out on October 9th.
“Bliss” is the new excerpt. Listen below.
