venbee has shared the new single “stars (john’s local)”, while announcing her upcoming EP back to the drawing board, due September 4. Blending conversational storytelling with hazy synth-pop and UK garage-inflected production, the track trades confessional songwriting for vivid, fictional nightlife scenes.
Speaking about the single, venbee says: “This song is my imagination coming to life. The idea was a mate’s local pub turning out to be the world’s biggest rave, and I got to paint the whole made-up night as it unfolded. Me and Evan had the best time writing it.”
