Australian quartet The Buoys have announced their second album, Concrete Cowboy, due October 23 via Sony Music Australia and Music For Nations. Produced by Chris Collins (Royel Otis, Gang of Youths), the record refines the band’s energetic indie rock with melodic pop influences, pairing hook-driven guitars with candid songwriting inspired by personal experiences and cult cinema and literature. “Welcome To My Brain” is the first excerpt.
Speaking on the album announcement, the band added: “We were in the studio together when the phrase came to us: too many tabs open. That became the heartbeat of the record. ‘Concrete Cowboy’ is about trying to keep pace with a world that never slows down, and what you find when you finally stop. Dreams, repressed memories, the blur between what’s real and what your mind has been quietly holding. We wanted to build a world around that feeling, one that lives in a surrealist dream state where those lines don’t just blur, they dissolve. We hope listeners find themselves inside it, so they can have a dance when it all feels a little too much.”
