Five years after Music For Video Stores, Martin Brugger has returned with The Shell, a quietly absorbing sophomore album released via Squama. Written after the musician scrapped an entirely completed record, the new collection embraces a more instinctive approach, blending field recordings, worn analogue textures, and delicate folk instrumentation into songs that feel intimate and unguarded.

Reflecting on the record, Brugger says: “Listening to the music on this album, I can relive the emotions that were put into it at a certain point in time and that gives me the greatest pleasure. It might not be the most refined record out there, but I can say that I’ve been honest in making it and that’s all I can give and it’s what I know now matters most to me.”
