Jason Calhoun Philadelphia-based artist and composer who has played in various projects including Hour, ylayali, Obody, and Paper Armies, shares “tolstoy tatsoi” to announce his new album Revelations of divine love, out August 7 with Dear Life Records.
For his fifth release for the label, Calhoun has assembled an especially potent album of work that whirrs, hums, and glows. “I enjoy working with abstracted, gestural melody that isn’t necessarily connected to a traditional beat. The tapping ‘bass drum’ rhythm in ‘tolstoy tatsoi’ offers a subverted sense of rhythm which feels disjointed yet in place with the rest of the track […].” Listen below.
