The latest release from Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA imprint captures the kind of serendipity that can’t be scheduled. Recorded during an impromptu gathering at Arnalds’ Reykjavík studio, Reykjavík Sessions brings together Poland’s YANA, Icelandic singer RAKEL, and UK pianist The Vernon Spring for a set of intimate performances and spontaneous collaborations.
Its centerpiece, “I Wonder,” emerged from a single improvised take, threading piano, voice, and ambient textures into a quietly luminous piece.
