Laura Misch releases her second album Lithic, out now via One Little Independent Records, alongside confirmation of a headline performance at Barbican Centre scheduled for July 3. Drawing inspiration from geological time and the slow transformation of landscapes, the record explores the relationship between sound, memory, and the natural world.
According to the press release, Built from breath-driven saxophone textures, field recordings, and environmental acoustics, Lithic blurs the boundaries between composition and ecology. Stones, quarries, caves, wind, and rain become integral elements of the album’s sonic architecture, while Misch’s expanded saxophone techniques evoke everything from shifting weather systems to distant choral voices.
