Adam Peters returns with Topanga, a meditative new solo album released through State of Mind Recordings, the inaugural title from the label’s newly launched ambient imprint. Best known for his work with Echo & The Bunnymen, collaborations with Mercury Rev and Beth Orton, and scores for films including Icarus and Snowden, Peters channels decades of cinematic composition into something far more intimate and inward-facing here.
According to the press release, Built from layered piano motifs, drifting strings, electric cello, and subtle electronic processing, the record unfolds with the patient emotional pacing of a film score slowly dissolving into abstraction.
