Berlin-based artist Jungstötter (Fabian Altstötter) announces Sustained, due May 22 via Unguarded, a third solo LP that reconfigures his practice around reduction and vocal centrality. According to the press release, Structured as a song cycle, the record deploys piano, strings, and low-intensity electronics within a sparse, process-driven framework where breath operates as both rhythmic regulator and formal axis.
Lead single “Again,” featuring Ronja, maps interlaced guitar and woodwind figures onto a field of controlled dissonance, its dynamics unfolding through gradual convergence rather than linear build.Altstötter’s voice anchors the system, shifting between fragile emission and saturated tone, with noise elements introduced as textural counter-pressure to melodic continuity.
